i miss

and this

families are pretty neat. they're always there. they like to call you just so you know that they're thinking about you and how your day is going, and whether you've gotten that nasty problem with the cable figured out (or something). they forgive you for wanting to blow off your younger cousins so you can ski down the more "difficult" trails, even though they know you're not really as good as you think you are. they even slip you 20 dollars because they know you probably need it, even if it isn't much.

for now, i will live vicariously through jon krakauer (without the frostbite and mt. everest tragedy), and look forward to thanksgiving, even if it does result in a stupid argument at dinner.

i was a landscape in your dream...

i guess i've been using of montreal lyrics a little too much. but i can't apologize for it because i just keep getting more obsessed. i hate it when you first hear a band and you like them, but aren't blown away by the one or two parts of songs you hear, so you never take the time to properly check them out, only to realize how fucking amazing the band is some time later down the road. and then you just want to kick yourself in the head for having something right there on your itunes, without realizing how wonderful it is. i do that a lot. kinda sucks, but is also kind of awesome. once the latter part comes around at least.

this weekend was good times for sure. got to reunite with my BFF from grades 1 to 6. we're so different now, but not really at all. got to meet some new people, got to see some new places, got invited to a fashion show and in general became much more hopeful of enjoying houston.

this city has a lot to offer. i need to learn how to jump up and grab experiences instead of waiting for them to happen to me. i'll check back on that later.

i need a couch. gimme. cheap.

also, someone help me paint my apartment. now.

When you look at your life, in a strange new room, maybe drowning soon...

is this the start of it all?

watch the movie Control. it's a biopic based on the memoir written by Ian Curtis's wife. really fucking good.

i want to be a post-punk rocker.
and smoke 20 packs of cigarettes a day.
and most especially, i want a black jacket, collar popped, with the word HATE written in white on the back.
yesyes.

insomnia

it's been awhile. i had planned on sitting down and attempting to write something meaningful when the time came for me to leave college station, but time got away from me. so here i am, in houston for over a week now. and i can't sleep again.

i'm nervous about so many things, but there's something else there that's bothering me. i can't put my finger on it. i keep telling myself to relax, but the unknown is still there in the back of my mind. it's making my stomach churn.

i feel like i'm in 4th grade again and all i want to do is crawl into the top bunk of my brother's bed because i know it's across the hall from my parents. funny how that's all it took for me to finally be able to fall asleep. then again, things were a lot less complicated when i was 10.
